So I’m really, really trying to pack light for my upcoming trip to the East Coast, partially because the last time I traveled with my boyfriend was is Italy, when I had a month’s+ worth of clothes in a huge heavy roll-y bag, and he did not love having to help me lug it around cobbly streets and endless train station stairs. It was a scarring experience. This time the trip will only be 8 days (4 nights in New York, 3 nights in Asheville), and we have to be extra considerate of the space we’ll be crashing in. So here’s a preliminary plan of what I’m thinking, inspired in part by some of the more casual looks of Fash-n-Chips, with some new takes on my airplane outfit.
BAGGAGE: I just scored this Everlane weekender as a super early birthday gift (thanks, parents!) but I also love this Cuyana bag. / This cool Zara messenger bag would keep everything in tact and safe in transit.
OUTERWEAR: Afraid of freezing on the East coast, I impulse-ordered a blue coat on supersale for $10. This one here is similar. / A scarf will have to serve as my sole accessory. Call it minimalism. This Cuyana scarf looks so, so soft. / My American Apparel gray hoodie is a timeless old friend. (The one shown here is J.Crew.)
TOPS: A bright sweater, to layer or wear alone, depending. / A striped top, classic enough to be sure I won’t look back at the photos embarrassed. / A denim button-up, in the spirit of goes-with-anything. / Assorted basic tees, for layering or sleeping in.
Am I still bringing too much? Too little? Is it totally boring? Am I going to freeze? (My instinct is to bring tons of big boots, but those are such a pain to pack.)
